A Main Girdle for an FE Ford big block A cheap alternative to cross bolts, and cheap insurance for ever increasingly rare Ford FE engines. I came up with a design that is much better than ordinary girdles due to the inherent design of the FE block. It ties not just the main caps together, but spans the width and length of the block encompassing the oil pan fasteners and ties the whole bottom of the engine together giving it much more strength and rigidity. Torque nuts clamp the plate tight to the block (NO GASKET) and are recessed in counter bores. A second set of nuts hold the oil pan on. This combined with main studs gives these engines uncompromising strength. This product is patent pending and of Concept Design Engineer LLC design. Kit includes 1.) 3/8 inch thick grade 80 high strength steel main girdle. laser cut & counterbored. 2.) Custom made high performance billet oil pump shaft from Precision Oil Pumps & long oil pump bolts. 3.) High strength 200,000 lb. tensile strength ARP main studs, nuts and washers. 4.) High strength steel main cap spacer straps, along with girdle act as main cap straps yielding even more strength. (NEW IMPROVEMENT!)  5. Oil pan studs, torque nuts, pan nuts and bolts. 6.) Thread locker and gasket sealer. 7.) Complete machining and assembly instructions. 8.) ARP assembly lube. CAN BE SEEN IN OCTOBER 2006 ISSUE OF MUSTANG & FORD, PARTS COUNTER SECTION. There is minor machining required to main caps. Line honing is recommended when using main studs. Made in U.S.A. Immediate Availability. Call Tim 262-388-2509 for more information on this exciting new product. Now including ARP studs, nuts & washers for #5 main cap. Please note pictures #5,6 &7 showing revised construction with main straps replacing washers and including studs for main #5 (not shown in kit picture).

This isn't just a piece of steel you slap on the bottom of your engine like most other products, this is a system with all pieces designed to work together to enhance the strength and rigidity of your engine to get the most out of it.

Another benefit of using this Girdle is that it increases the oil pan capacity to 7 quarts without any other modifications.

Turin Dream Exhibition

Mon, 17 Nov 2008

The 'Dream' exhibition currently taking place at the Giovanni Agnelli Pavilion Esposizioni in Turin is a stroll through almost 60 years of creativity, which convinced the world of carmakers - and consumers - to accept new stylistic features; demand greater performance and safety; and to create new ways to adapt car interiors to the many demands of business and leisure. One of the main events commemorating Torino 2008 World Design Capital, there are 54 one-off examples and three-dimensional objects on view in the 12 galleries, piazza and atrium, including projects from local design schools Instutito Europeo di Design (IED) and the Istituto d'Arte Applicata e Design di Torino (IAAD). IED is showing two projects created by students on its post-graduate course in Transportation Design: the Fiat Panda from 2007 and the 2008 BMW ZX6 - a thesis project created selected as the main photo of the exhibition.

MINI Crossman / Countryman on schedule

The MINI Crossover Concept. On target for a Geneva launch as the Countryman or Crossman The MINI Crossover – dubbed Crossman or Countryman – has been floating around as a ‘Concept’  since the Paris Motor Show in 2008. We even reported on the MINI Crossman testing back in April, and it’s been expected to launch for quite some time, so to say it’s ‘On Schedlue’ is probably a little misleading.

Alfa Romeo/IED Gloria [w/gallery]

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

The European Institute of Design (IED) in Turin will unveil its new Gloria concept, developed in collaboration with Alfa Romeo Style Center, at next month's Geneva motor show. These renders of the sports sedan concept, which is 4,200mm long, 1,920mm wide, 1,320mm high sitting on a wheelbase of 2,900mm, show a traditional Alfa grille that feeds into the hood's prominent V-shaped character lines. Two leather hood straps in front of the windshield are a nod to the brand's older models.
