Why the BMW M4 is better than the M3 V8 (2013)
Wed, 25 Sep 2013It’s no exaggeration to say that the turbocharged engine in the upcoming BMW M3 (saloon) and M4 (coupe) models is one of the most important engines ever produced by BMW’s M Division. No, it’s not the first turbo lump the performance off-shoot has built – you'll probably know we’ve already had the X5/X6M mutants plus the brilliant 1M and M5 and M6 – but it is the first turbo ever to slot in a production M3, the car that personifies BMW’s iconic performance sub brand, which itself has always been defined by high-revving, naturally aspirated engines. All of this explains why M’s engineers have cut their teeth on other engines first before plucking up the courage to develop the M3/M4 turbo while turning their backs on the outgoing E92 M3’s exceptional V8.
Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 hits the wind tunnel, gains downforce: Video
Thu, 10 Nov 2011We've seen the gaudy output numbers of the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1: 580 hp and 556 lb-ft of torque make it the fastest Camaro ever produced--by a long shot. We've seen it at the Nordschleife dropping a supercar-like time of 7 minutes, 41.27 seconds around the 13-mile, 170-turn track. Now it's time to learn a little bit about what it takes to stabilize such a powerful beast at speed.
Renault’s electric cars ‘will cost the same as its diesels’
Tue, 28 Apr 2009By Richard Yarrow Motor Industry 28 April 2009 12:10 Three electric vehicles (EVs) in development by Renault will cost the same as the equivalent diesels in Britain, the company has confirmed to CAR Online. Battery-powered electric Renaults are expected to cost from around £15,000 when they arrive in the next couple of years. The announcement takes into account the UK Government’s £5000 EV incentive scheme announced earlier this month.
