Solution:

Don't throw away $100 buying a new motor. 99% of the time the power window motors fail due to deteriorating bushings. If you can hear the window motor turning but the windows don't move, or they move part of the way up or down, or have dead spots, this is probably your problem. The good news is you can very easily rebuild your own power window motors, using basic tools, with my rebuild kit, which includes 6 bushings (enough to rebuild both left and right motors--if one window motor failed, the other isn't far behind; be pro-active and rebuild them both or save the second set for when that other side fails) and step-by-step instructions, in about an hour. I have rebuilt many motors using this kit and you too can save mucho dinero with my kit.

Note: I've seen other unscrupulous sellers hocking metal bushings that will destroy your motor. OEM were not metal for a reason, the motor gear is plastic. These guys offer a lifetime warranty on the bushings because the bushings themselves won’t fail but can easily destroy your motor within a year. My bushings are plastic: light and durable and will not damage your motor. Be safe.

Ownership costs of traditional versus alternative fuel vehicles

Mon, 04 Feb 2013

As gas prices remain high, and an increasing number of automakers roll out plug-in hybrid cars and full-electric vehicles, it's becoming easier to be tantalized with the idea of driving right past the gas station and simply "plugging in." The debate ensues when it comes to cost: These alternative fuel vehicles mean a larger outlay of cash at the onset, but the long-term fuel savings could make the purchase worthwhile. To help straighten out this numbers game, we use the Department of Energy's Vehicle Cost Calculator to compare alternative fuel vehicles with their gasoline-only counterparts. For each scenario, we assumed that our hypothetical owner was able to get the full $7,500 federal tax credit and a $2,500 state tax credit, such as is available in California.
