EU new car CO2 targets pushed back
Wed, 27 Nov 2013The European Union’s plans to cap new cars to 95g/km CO2 by 2020 has been delayed, after months of lobbying led by Germany. Instead, the 95g/km target will be introduced a year later in 2021, but with an additional amount of flexibility intended to make the transition easier – especially for luxury carmakers such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz, which generally build bigger, heavier vehicles. The new Peugeot 208 has a weight of expectations resting on its new shoulders, with Peugeot finding sales harder to come by and hoping the new 208 may rekindle some of the sales fire the 205 had. RCA students redesign the Fiat 500 and Panda for 2020
Thu, 19 Dec 2013Royal College of Art students have redesigned the Fiat 500 and the Panda for 2020 in its 'Two of a Kind' contest. The project challenged Royal College of Art students to design the Panda or 500 of 2020 in teams consisting of Masters students from the vehicle design program and other courses. After 14 presentations, two proposals were chosen each for the Fiat Panda and Fiat 500 by an expert panel that included Ramaciotti, Fiat chief exterior designer Andreas Wuppinger, senior designers and RCA teachers and staff.
