Kia's new Aero-Soul concept utilises wind power to lower emissions and boost economy [ad#ad-1] In a dramatic, and very cost effective manner, Kia has revealed the new Aero-Soul concept, which aims to drastically reduce Co2 emissions and improve economy by harnessing the power of the wind, in a low-cost solution called Air Propulsion and Retardation Installation Line. In simple terms, the A.P.R.I.L system uses small sensors built in to the front and rear of the car to monitor wind forces, and deploys wind chutes at the front or rear of the car to aid in braking or forward propulsion. So at cruising speeds if the wind behind the car is strong – such as in winter gales – the panels will harness wind power to provide forward motion.

2011 VW Jetta gets launched

The 2011 Volkswagen Jetta Volkswagen reckons that this latest Jetta is no longer a Golf with a boot to make a saloon but is instead a completely new stand-alone model, even though under its new skin – inspired by the VW NCC (New Compact Coupe) concept at New York this year – it sits on a stretched (by 70mm) Golf platform. To make the Jetta stand apart from its Golf sibling VW has fitted the Jetta with an all new dashboard with aluminium highlights and a leather trimmed steering wheel. It’s the fifteenth month in succession new car registration have risen in the UK, with sales for May at 180,111 and total sales to date in 2013 hitting almost 1 million units, at 948,666. The SMMT think the big jump in private registrations is down to a number of factors, including cars bought under the scrappage scheme now being traded in for a new car, strong incentives from car makers and the promise of new cars offering lower running costs, and they’re probably right, although there are other factors in play too.
