Ford CEO Alan Mulally to deliver keynote address at CES

Tue, 22 Sep 2009

Ford is continuing to double-down on its Sync technology as a way to separate itself from competitors, and in that theme CEO Alan Mulally will again deliver a keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show in January in Las Vegas. He's expected to unveil the next round of Ford's Sync features at the show, which is a bellwether event for the technology industry. He also spoke at last year's show, and former GM CEO Rick Wagoner addressed it in 2008 as part of efforts by auto execs to showcase new innovations in their cars.

2012 Infiniti M35h gets cheaper to run

Thu, 29 Mar 2012

2012 Infiniti M35h gets more frugal The 2012 Infinit M35h has been tweaked to lower its emissions and improve its economy, meaning real savings for company car drivers. We’re not the biggest fans of hybrid powertrains, it’s true to say, but that has more to do with the staggering amount car makers charge to offer the complex technology. But Infiniti is different, and their M35h costs just £1180 more than the comparable M30d with a diesel engine.

New Skoda Octavia vRS hatch & estate revealed

Wed, 05 Jun 2013

The 2013 Skoda Octavia vRS has been revealed (vRS hatch pictured) The Skoda Octavia vRS – the latest version of Skoda’s quick and appealing take on the VW Golf GTI – has been unveiled ahead of its debut at the Goodwood FoS in July, and it looks a cracker. Available as either a hatchback or estate – and as a diesel or a petrol – the Octavia vRS manages to repackage the Golf GTI and Golf GTD in to one Skoda, offering good performance (the vRS is a bit slower than the GTI to 62mph at 6.8 seconds but has a 2mph higher top speed), good looks and the promise of prices starting not much above £20k. The petrol vRS gets the Golf GTI’s 217bhp 2.0 litre TSI and the diesel vRS the 181bhp 2.0 litre TFI from the Golf GTD, both with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard and a six-speed DSG as option, sports suspension, XDS differential, quicker steering and multi-link rear suspension.
