It looks like Aston Martin could be getting AMG/Mercedes platforms too

Wed, 30 Oct 2013

Mercedes/AMG platforms would make the Lagonda SUV a reality We’d been expecting Aston Martin to get access to Mercedes platforms ever since the Lagonda SUV – based on the underpinnings of the Mercedes GL - arrived in all its ‘beauty’ in 2009. (adsbygoogle=window.adsbygoogle||[]).push({});The Lagonda SUV was met with wails of anguish from lovers of Aston Martin’s timeless beauty but, despite the horror at the looks of the SUV, the prospect that Aston Martin could be heading down a collaboration route with Mercedes was welcome. It was welcome because without the support of a major car maker – and access to its technology – Aston Martin would have little chance of a bright future; there is no way a minnow like Aston Martin could afford the development cost of new engines and platforms.

2010 BMW 7 Series updates: 740d, M-Sports & X-Drive

Fri, 26 Jun 2009

BMW has added a new diesel to the 7 Series Range for 2010 - the BMW 740d BMW has confirmed the M Sports Package will be available for the first time on the BMW 7 Series, and will be an option across the entire range. So you can now have the front and rear aprons; carbon black paintwork; 19″ M wheels; BMW Dynamic Drive; aluminium trim; M Gear Lever etc., etc. The latest BMW 7 Series is a handsome car once more, and these M-Sport options do seem to add a certain aggression to its stance – not a bad thing.

Ford S-Max  Following the unveiling of the SAV concept at Geneva last year comes the production version, the S-MAX. Sharing much in common with the new Galaxy, the S-Max aims to have greater dynamic appeal and retain a closer connection with Ford of Europe's 'Kinetic Design' ethos. Differences include the dropping window-line that pushes back to form a triangular D-pillar and round fog lamps at the front.
