Jaguar Land Rover drops plans to close one of three England plants
Fri, 15 Oct 2010Jaguar Land Rover said Friday it no longer plans to close one of its three auto plants in England after reaching an agreement with trade unions. The automaker, which Ford Motor Co. sold to India's Tata Motors in 2008, said it would be significantly increasing the number of models in its range and creating thousands of jobs over the next decade.

Unveiled at the Detroit auto show, the new 911 Targa is based around the same aluminium bodyshell and four-wheel drive mechanical package as the 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet, alongside which it will be produced at Porsche's Zuffenhausen factory on the outskirts of Stuttgart, Germany. All proceeds will be donated to the Usain Bolt Foundation, which helps create educational and cultural opportunities for young people in Jamaica. More than 100 people competed for the other items crossing the block, including racing helmets, special driving suits and boots, which brought $6,091 more.
