Don’t think for a minute that we’re going to lose the supercar stunts we know and love, and see them replaced by the charms of a Kia Cee’d economy run, but Top Gear, in common with the rest of the Beeb, is having its budget cut – apparently. Andy Wilman, who is the brains behind TG (and its producer) together with Jeremy Clarkson, has been bemoaning the budget cuts planned for the show on the TG website. Porsche 918 Spyder crashes in Germany

Porsche is in hot water with German authorities following an accident involving a prototype version of the gasoline-electric hybrid-powered 918 Spyder on a public road last month, according to reports in the German media. The accident, which took place between the towns of Bietigheim-Bissingen and Ludwigsburg (close to Porsche's research-and-development center), saw the 875-hp 918 Spyder spin out of control and collide with a guard rail. Parts of the new $845,000 Porsche flagship are said to have broken loose in the collision before being collected by an oncoming car.

Vauxhall Astra GTC - the 3 door Astra will be revealed in June Actually, we’re not sure we should really have called this a reveal of the new Vauxhall Astra GTC. It’s more the reveal of the production version of the GTC Concept we already saw at the Paris Motor Show last year. Surprisingly, the Astra GTC manages to hang on to quite a bit of the style of the GTC Concept, such as the blistered wheel arches and the deep grill, although the usual conpcety stuff – like oversized alloys – have had to bite the dust.
