The Audi A3 (pictured) is the 2014 World Car of the Year The New York Auto Show is the place where the World Car of the Year winner is announced, so with the show now underway comes the news that it’s the Audi A3 that’s grabbed the gong for the best car in the world in 2014. It’s the second time Audi has won the award – the Audi A6 won in 2005 – and probably holds up a mirror to the changing face of the world’s car landscape; more compact, ‘Premium’ cars are now the most favoured buy. New World Record is not child’s play

THE NATIONAL MOTOR MUSEUM is celebrating its success in setting a new World Record for the longest line of toy cars. To achieve the record, the museum gathered 24,189 model cars and laid them bumper to bumper to create an unbroken line that stretched for 1910-metres. Snaking its way around the museum’s grounds, the line of toy cars more than trumped the previous record of 14,310 toy cars.

2012 Bentley Continental GTC raises £240k for Children in Need The 2012 Bentley Continental GTC was only revealed at Frankfurt in September, and is currently getting its North American debut in L.A.  But Bentley have already sold one to a generous UK buyer who stumped up £240k at a charity auction last night in aid of BBC Children in Need. The event – at Manchester’s Hilton Hotel and organised by Bentley Manchester – was hosted by the seemingly ubiquitous Gary Barlow, and had in attendance a plethora of celeb faces, including Lorraine Kelly, JLS, Chris Moyles and – as it’s Children in Need – Sir Tel of Wogan.
