CCS- American Iron and Steel Institute Challenge 2005

Tue, 15 Nov 2005

Transportation Design students from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit recently presented projects done in conjunction with the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). Three students were selected from the college to complete an internship: Chris Piscitelli, Sylvian Bryan and Sang Hoon Shin. They took on the challenge to design a 'functional, innovative and extreme-inspired vehicle that integrates environmental responsibility, cost efficiency and advanced steel materials.' Aside from the peripheral criteria, it is the 'extreme' theme that sticks, the brief satisfyingly encouraging students to really provoke with their imaginations. With the Challenge now in its 17th year, AISI puts its considerable resources to good use, Piscitelli, Bryan and Shin each receiving much support during their internship program, which includes producing scale models of their designs.

2014 Hyundai Genesis: First photos ahead of Detroit debut

Thu, 24 Oct 2013

First photo of the new Hyundai Genesis However far Hyundai has come in the UK and Europe in the last few years, they still don’t think Europe is ready for their range-topping saloon – the Hyundai Genesis. (adsbygoogle=window.adsbygoogle||[]).push({});But that could be about to change with the arrival of the 2014 Hyundai Genesis, which Hyundai has started to tease with the release of the first photos of their new car ahead of a debut at the Detroit Auto Show. Looking like a slightly tamer version of the Hyundai HCD-14 Concept we saw at Detroit at the start of the year, the new Genesis gets Hyundai’s latest Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language which brings with it a new Audi-esque front grill (well, Hyundai/Kia’s design guru, Peter Schreyer, did come from Audi) as well as a sleeker, more elegant style.

Fri, 23 Mar 2012

Jaguar Land Rover raise £500 million (adsbygoogle=window.adsbygoogle||[]).push({});Jaguar Land Rover is raising £500 million on the bond market to fund its expansion, including new models and new facilities. Hot on the heels of the Jaguar Land Rover joint venture deal with Chery in China comes the news that Jaguar has dipped in to the private bond market to raise £500 million to help with its bold and bullish plans to make JLR a major world player in the premium vehicle sector. JLR plans to invest £1.5 billion a year on expansion and is making sure its coffers can cope by issuing £500 million of senior notes due in 2020, with the net proceeds of the bonds being used for general corporate purposes.
