New additions have been made to the design management teams at General Motors, both in Asia and in Europe. Effective today (August 1), Friedhelm Engler begins his new role as Director of Design for the Pan Asian Technical Automotive Center (PATAC), based in Shanghai, China.  He is responsible for all design related activities in the joint venture between General Motors and the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. Group (SAIC).

Toyota FT-86 II Tease Just last week we finally got the first concrete news on the Subaru half of the Toyobura project that seems to have been bouncing around forever. Well, certainly since Toyota first rolled out the Toyota FT-86 Concept at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2009. Which made is believe that the whole Rear-Wheel Drive Sports Car Technology Concept designed to deliver an affordable, traditional-style rear-wheel drive sports car at a sensible price (when we first saw the Toyota FT-86 we were told around £17.5k ) was finally going to bear fruit.

The Vision Efficient Dynamics concept car is tipped as a potential addition to the MCV sub brand By Tim Pollard Motor Industry 03 June 2010 22:49 BMW's new Mega City Vehicle (MCV) will launch in 2013 and spawn a whole family of innovative, high-tech models – possibly including a production version of the Vision Efficient Dynamics concept car, according to the sales boss. Ian Robertson, board member for sales and marketing at the BMW Group, said the MCV would be the brand's first full series production electric car at launch in 2013.'It will be badged as a BMW sub brand - with a propeller badge and a separate name,' he said. 'We are in the final stages of deciding what that name will be and there are some exciting options.
