Autoweek's Best of the Best winners announced

Today, Autoweek announced the winners of our yearly Best of the Best competition with the Porsche Boxster S and Mercedes-Benz GL taking top honors. Presenting the awards, editor Wes Raynal said, “It was a tough call to make this year with so many incredible cars and trucks that debuted. The European version of the Peugeot Exalt Concept With the Paris Motor Show now looming (just four weeks away) car makers are starting to reveal new cars and new concepts heading for the French capital. Today it’s the turn of Peugeot to reveal an updated version of the Exalt Concept we saw at the Beijing Motor Show in April. The Peugeot Exalt Concept is Peugeot’s next step on from the Onyx Concept, showcasing many of Peugeots’ future design cues and technology all wrapped up in a swoopy coupe saloon that sadly will never see the light of day as a production model.

Ram heavy-duty pickup gets higher towing rating

Ram has fired the latest salvo in the ongoing pickup war between the domestic automakers, releasing what the brand claims is now best-in-class towing capacity for its 2013 heavy-duty pickups. The 2013 Ram 3500 is rated to tow a 30,000-pound trailer, up from a maximum towing capacity of 22,750 pounds for the same vehicle and powertrain setup in 2012. According to their respective Web sites, similarly equipped heavy-duty 3500 pickups from General Motors are rated at a towing capacity of 23,100 pounds, while Ford's F-350 similarly equipped is rated at 22,800 pounds.
