VW Beetle R Concept arrives at Frankfurt We did speculate back in June that Volkswagen were planning on giving the new VW Beetle some butch credentials by endowing it with a new performance range-topper – the VW Beetle R. And today at Frankfurt the new hot Beetle takes a bow. VW are dubbing the Beetle R Concept, but it’s clear that they want the new Beetle to be perceived as more appealing to men as well as women; to those who enjoy the drive as well as to those who buy a car to make a style declaration.

It's a typically modern rebranding: the graphic designers have zoomed in on the upper torso of the griffin, giving it a sharper, modern look and the word Vauxhall is now incorporated in the badge.The company's grille-wide V front end will be abandoned, the new grille preferring an Opel-style roundel, enlarged and sitting slap bang in the middle of the grille. It's not all change, however.

CAFA Degree Show 2011

The 2011 Central Academy of Fine Arts recently held its annual transportation design degree show, themed '2053 sea, land and air amphibious transportation and entertainment design'. Lead by Professor Edward Wong, director of the school's transportation design department, China's leading design school asked students to exert their creativity whilst being conscious of advanced technologies and material applications. The brief called for the next generation of vehicles for the future and whatever environments this may present.
