2014 Subaru WRX STI revealed – and it’s coming to the UK We learnt last week that the new Subaru WRX STI was heading for a debut at the Detroit Auto Show and it’s now arrived, as has confirmation that the new WRX STI is going on sale in the UK too. Subaru UK has confirmed that because the Yen has weakened there’s now a strong enough case to put the new WRX STI on sale in the UK, and that it will cost less than the original list price of the old model at £28,995. The new WRX STI gets the familiar 2.5 litre four-pot delivering 305bhp and 290lb/ft of torque, sent to all four wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.

Ferrari is adding 250 workers and expanding its engine-building capacity, even as it says it will cut car production this year at its landmark factory in Maranello, Italy. Why the cause for growth? Ferrari is ramping up its in-house engine operation and will produce more V6 engines, which sister company Maserati will use in the redesigned Quattroporte sedan and the smaller E-segment entry, the Ghibli.

New UK car registrations in 2012 rose to a four-year high, figures released today confirm. Sales jumped 5.3% in the Olympic year compared with 2011 – to 2,044,609 new cars, the largest percentage increase since 2001. Retail sales drove the demand in 2012, growing 12.9% on the previous year.
