You are bidding on an a one of a kind Marquis  De Portago original scrapbook from the  1955 racing season in his Ferrari’s. This is a one of a kind, 40 pages with many unseen photographs. There are 43 photographs and many newspaper clippings.  The size of the book is massive and measures 20 ½” x 18” x 2 ½” weighing about 21 lbs..  This was purchased at an estate sale in South Carolina over 15 years ago where De Portago’s wife Caroll McDaniel resided. It features the following Ferrari’s: Ferrari  625, 750S s/n 0482M, Ferrari 375 Monza # 002-51, Ferrari 750S Monza 0496M. The year features the following race tracks: Sebring,Torino, Montlhey, Pau, Bordeaux, Silverstone, Goodwood, Aintree, Oulton Park ,Caraccus, and Nassau .I have purchased the Ed McDonough Marquis de Portago book and found only one of the same  photo by Tom Burnside in the book.

CAR’s £1000 support for upcoming journalists – in honour of Phil Llewellin

The Phil Llewellin Student Journalist of the Year award will go to the best student writer from the motoring journalism courses at Coventry and Cardiff Universities. The winner receives £1000 and also a work experience placement at CAR magazine, whose pages were graced by Phil Llewellin’s work until his untimely death in 2005. Entries for the award, run by the Guild of Motoring Writers, must be received by 30 September, with the winner announced at the RAC Club in London on 5 December.

Lamborghini Huracan: Is this the name of the new Gallardo?

Do we now have to get used to calling this the Lamborghini Huracan? We’re currently suffering a spate of teases for the successor to the Lamborghini Gallardo – which we expected to be the Cabrera – but it seems it won’t get the Cabrera moniker after all – it’s apparently going to be the Lamborghini Huracan. So says Auto Express who’ve been tipped the wink by someone who seems to know.
