UK electric car sales hit record high
Tue, 12 Nov 2013While electric cars may not have taken off as quickly as the likes of Renault and Nissan had hoped, the latest figures from the government’s £5,000 electric car grant scheme show that sales have leapt 25% in the last quarter. A total of 1,149 electric cars were registered in Q3, not only a 25% improvement over Q2, but the most successful quarter since the government scheme began back in January 2011, indicating that consumers are starting to understand the technology and its limitations rather better. Wed, 22 Sep 2010We’ve seen the sketches of the Smart E-Scooter concept, and now this is the real thing, which will be unveiled at the 2010 Paris motor show next week. Underneath the fully interchangeable plastic body panels there is a steel and aluminium frame, and there's lots of tech too. There’s heated handlebars, ABS, an airbag, and a Blind Spot Assist monitor to warn when a car/van/bus is about to take you out.

It all started with the Lexus LF-Gh concept at Geneva in the spring – the new GS in Concept guise – since when our spy photographers have managed to grab shots of a disguised GS out ploughing round the Nurburgring and we’ve had a Lexus boss musing the likelihood of a Lexus GS Coupe – and an official announcement that the GS 350 will arrive at Pebble. Now we get one of the oxymorons of car PR in the internet age – the ‘Official’ Spy Video.
