For sale is a very nice complete running marine engine.  This engine was removed from a 1982 boat that had suffered stringer and floor rot.  The engine has  good cylinder compression readings that vary less than 15 % between cylinders   I ran the engine on the test stand for over an hour.

There are a few issues that would need to be addressed:

The flywheel will need to be replaced, or swapped from a similar engine, due to a series of starter drive teeth being damaged. (ring gear).  The Mercruiser part number is 251-7714 A1, 251-9741 A2, or equivalent.  I have not researched the possibility of only the ring gear being replaced.

The heat exchanger ( this is a 3" type ) endcaps leak sea water.  It appears that there is some expansion present near the end caps.  This heat exchanger may be able to be put back into service.  The anti-freeze side of the heat exchanger appears to be sealed and intact.

The battery charging system does not seem to be working.  I suspect the regulator needs replacing, or an aftermarket alternator kit may be fitted.

The engine ran very well on the test stand.  If someone were looking to replace a similar engine, then transferring the necessary parts to this engine could be very cost effective.

There was no hour meter installed on the boat.

Oil pressure, engine temperature, were verified within specifications.

The engine will be sold as shown.

I will work with buyer to accommodate long range shipping requirements.  Pickup at out location is also an option

There may be an additional charge from Freightquote if the engine needs to be delivered at a residential address without a loading dock.

I have many other marine engines available, as well as a warehouse that stocks many other marine components:  Drives, transoms, engine parts, controls, etc.

Vauxhall planning City Car

Tue, 08 Dec 2009

The 2004 Opel TRIXX Concept With the world and his dog seemingly trying to squeeze in to smaller and smaller cars, it should come as no surprise that Vauxhall/Opel’s new boss in Europe – Nick Reilly – says that the number one priority for GM in Europe is a new City Car. After all, what was once considered as small as you need to go – the Corsa or the Agila – seems something of a heffalump compared to many of the city cars flooding in to our cities. So how far down the line are Vauxhall with their City Car plans?
