Here we have a professionally re-plated rear License Plate Light for the 1969-1970 Cougar.  The plating has been done by a plating shop that has been around since the mid-50s and the plating shows great on the light .  The wiring is brand new and includes a OEM original Wire Sleeve and a OEM original Grommet.  The OEM glass lens appeared to be in great shape, and I included a new lens gasket and bulb.  Finally included are 2 OEM replated concourse lamp hanging screws.  This is a very nice restored lamp and will look great in concourse restorations or for someone who enjoys having Ford/Mercury Factory original parts.

Letter/Number Stamping:
SAE-L-69CR
Lamp Housing: FoMoCo
Door Retainer: FoMoCo
Glass: FoMoCo

Parts:
Black wire: Brand New Factory looking wire. USA made
Wire sleeve: OEM original
Grommet: OEM original
Gasket: Brand New.  USA Made

The Fact is that NOS License plate lights are almost impossible to find these days on eBay, or other vendors for 1969-1970 Cougars.  The License Plate Lights that come-up for sale are just Ford Galaxie"service parts" Lights and are different from Cougar light in design....    What I'm selling is a true Ford/Mercury Factory License Plate Light with all number/letter stamping.  Restored back to Factory condition.  The only difference from my Light is that the wire assembly is brand new.  Having a new wire assembly means not having to worry about conductivity problems that 50 year old wires cause from copper corrosion and
brittle wire insulation that can brake and cause the light to stop working.
It would cost much more time and money to purchase a OEM light and have it professionally re-plated and get all the accessories that I listed above.  Anyone can paint a light, but plating brings the light to a whole another level.  Worth the investment for your Pony.

Don't settle for foreign reproductions, keep your Cougar real with Factory Ford/Mercury Parts.
Keep searching you won't find another Factory 1969-1970 license plate light in this condition on eBay....

Price estimates for making the license plate light look FoMoCo Factory again:
This is how much will cost, if you plan on doing your own license plate light restoration.

Purchasing a good OEM license plate light:  $25-30
Professionally re-platting the license plate light:  $80-90
Purchasing accessories to complete the light:  $20-30
Time: Finding a good plating shop and driving fuel prices:  $5-10

Online database 'may cut car insurance premiums'

Fri, 10 Jan 2014

MOTORISTS could see insurance premiums cut by up to £15 a year after the Government announced that all driving licence records are being put online. The searchable database for individuals and companies to check speeding endorsements and other details could also bring down the cost of car hire. The My Licence project is the latest part of the coalition's digital agenda, which has been gradually moving services on to the internet.

Street View not good enough for Google's self-driver

Tue, 20 May 2014

If anyone can bring the self-driving car to market, it's Google. Not only does the company have the necessary funds for such an undertaking, it has the necessary data -- at least one would think. In a Wired article on Tuesday, Google said that even though it has mapped much of the world with Google Street View, those maps won't help its self-driving car.
