Alcon crescent slot discs have been engineered to produce optimum bite, thermal stability and durability in an exceptionally high strength to low weight design. This has been achieved by combining a special Alcon developed iron alloy disc with an aerospace specification alloy bell.

WHY ALCON BRAKE DISCS?

  • Unique crescent grooves on friction faces provide the bite usually associated with drilled discs without the durability problems.
  • Directionally curved cooling vanes for optimum cooling performance.
  • Alcon's floating disc system (as used in the majority of applications) has been designed to allow thermal expansion of the disc throughout it's life while minimizing the tendency to shudder.

ALCON MONOBLOC CALIPERS!

  • Monobloc 4 or 6 piston design for high stiffness and low weight.
  • Piston bore sizes are staggered to ensure even pad wear.
  • Pin mounted pads provide low threshold pressure and low noise

IDSA's 3D-printed car design contest gets underway

Thu, 25 Jul 2013

Aspiring designers have the chance to see their 3D-printed car designs launched down a miniature model of a ski jump and crash in the Launch Day 2013 competition due to take place at the 2013 IDSA conference, which runs from 21-24 August. Up to five designs can be entered for free until 12 August in the competition, organized by The Industrial Designers Society of America. All submissions will then be judged for both aesthetics and for "using unique attributes of 3D printing" which will whittle them down to just 10 designs that will be printed before the launch.

Tue, 22 Oct 2013

Caterham Seven 160 launches as a back to basics Seven The promise of 80bhp from a tiny Suzuki 3-cylinder turbo engine may not sound the perfect recipe for a fun little sports car, but wrapped up in the ‘back to basics’ Caterham Seven 160 it very well could be. Caterham has revealed details of their new entry-level Seven – called 160 – after a tease earlier in the year, which comes with the aforementioned Suzuki 3-pot engine which is powerful enough to promise brisk acceleration of 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds. Caterham has stripped the 160 back to the bone with very low weight, it gets a five-speed manual – from Suzuki but tweaked by Caterham – and a live rear axle.
