PowerPak Plus / ProSeries feature includes: - Race proven quality pistons forged from 2618 aluminum alloy (the 2 barrel pistons are made form 4032) - Ring grooves machined for light-weight, low-drag racing ring packs - Asymmetrical valve pockets - Lateral gas ports for improved sealing, generating improved horsepower - Precision milling for additional weight savings - GRAFAL® anti-friction coating on skirts* - Phosphate-coated to reduce micro-welding and pin galling** * MAHLE’s GRAFAL® skirt coating reduces drag, scuffing, friction and cylinder bore wear; reduces piston noise. ** Phosphate coating provides the grey appearance to the MAHLE piston. This dry lubricant coating (not to be confused with a thermal film coating) provides a lubricant film in the pin bores and ring grooves until the oiling system of the engine reaches operating pressure; particularly useful during the initial start-up or break-in of engines to protect against galling and microwelding. Skoda revealed the MissionL Concept at Frankfurt last month, a Skoda aiming to plug the gap between the Fabia and Octavia. At the time we commented that the MissionL could turn up in India before it did in Europe, and it looks like it has – as the new Skoda Rapid.
College Exhibition: Coventry University MA Degree Show 2009
Wed, 23 Dec 2009MA students from Coventry University's School of Art and Design presented their annual degree show at Coventry Transport Museum late last month. Entitled ‘Keep Movin', the nine graduating students showed a range of projects, which centered on the theme of sustainable transportation, energy efficient vehicles and new materials. There was also a sample of an earlier group project that explored the future of the car based on the ‘Foresight Future Scenarios 2055'.
