The 2003 Maserati Kubang SUV Concept The idea of an SUV from every luxury maker seemed a dead cert a few years ago. And then the world went in to financial meltdown and the eco-mentalists convinced a chunk of the car buying public that SUVs were the spawn of the devil, which put the kybosh on the nascent plans of many a car maker. But the recession hasn’t quite turned in to a depression (unless you’re one of the poor countries sucked in to the German Euro Zone), and many are now waking up to the fact that SUVs aren’t killing the planet and that CO2 is actually beneficial to planet earth, not harmful.

McLaren P1 driven by Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson (pictured) It’s only a few days since McLaren revealed the first customer P1s are now rolling out of McLaren’s clinical production facility in Woking, and it looks like Jeremy Clarkson has bagged one to play with. The video (below) shows Clarkson behind the wheel of the new P1 which, judging by the number plate, is probably one of the first customer cars on the road. The opinionated one is preceded in the video by a pair of Range Rovers – one new, one old – at least one of which is a camera car, so this drive of the Mclaren P1 is obviously heading for a TV screen soon – hopefully on Top Gear.

Pforzheim University Winter Degree Show 2009

Transportation Design students at Germany's Pforzheim University displayed their work in the school's summer degree show last month, one of two graduation shows held every year by the renowned college. The exhibition included work from graduating Diploma and Masters students, first- and second-semester Masters students, as well as exterior and interior projects by the fifth- and seventh-semester BA students. The newly introduced Bachelor course covers the Transportation Design program in seven semesters (replacing the eight-semester Diploma course) with students embarking on specialized transportation projects in their second semester.
