Watch: BMW driver drifts 51 miles to set new world record
Thu, 16 May 2013Johan Schwartz shattered the Guinness World Record for longest sustained drift in a BMW M5 Saturday, completing a total of 322.5 laps and covering 51.278 miles. Schwartz, a BMW Performance Driving instructor, beat the previous 6.94-mile drift record at the BMW Performance Center in Greenville, S.C. using just one set of Continental tires.

We had a singleĀ teaserĀ image of the Hyundai i-oniq Concept back in December, with the promise it was heading towards Geneva 2012, and with Geneva looming in just a few days Hyundai has revealed the first photo of the i-oniq. The i-oniq is a sports hatch designed to showcase the direction Hyundai is heading, and it showcases the direction of Hyundai’s fluidic sculpture design and its new technology.
BMW ActiveHybrid 7 Series introduced
Thu, 13 Aug 2009BMW has released images and detail on the BMW ActiveHybrid 7 Series The 7 Series ActiveHybrid, although built to serve the same purpose, utilises a different methodology to the X6 AvtiveHybrid. It is a ‘Mild’ Hybrid – built in co-operation with Mercedes – that uses a single electric motor (as opposed to the X6′s twin motors) together with the BMW 4.4 litre, twin-turb0 V8, to deliver 455 horses and 516lb/ft of torque. The V8 delivers 440bhp with the electric motor adding an extra 15bhp.The electric motor in the 7 Series ActiveHybrid is sandwiched between the 8-speed ZF ‘box and the engine.
