Saab gets a ray of hope from China
Sun, 11 Sep 2011Victor Muller sees a glimpse of sunshine from China The saga that is the long and painful demise of Saab seemed to reach its nadir last week when courts in Sweden refused to offer the beleaguered car maker sanctuary in its protection. We thought that would be the end for Saab – despite a never-say-die appeal of the decision by Victor Muller, due to be heard tomorrow – with nowhere left to hide from trade supplier debts of €150 million, and the wrath of Sweden’s unions ready to file for Saab’s bankruptcy over unpaid wages for Saab employees. The nadir for Saab should reasonably be followed by its rapid consignment to the annuls of motoring history, but a tiny glimmer of hope has risen from Saab’s putative investors in China.
Honda S660 concept stars at the Tokyo Motor Show 2013
Wed, 20 Nov 2013Honda is calling the S660 a concept, but when company president Takanobu Ito took to the stage at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, one of the first things he did was confirm this exciting new small sports car – the spiritual successor to the Honda Beat – will be going into production in 2015. This is great news for Honda, and Ito-san acknowledged a next-generation small sports car has been long awaited by Honda fans, who’ve had little excitement to cheer about since the last Civic Type R and the S2000 roadster were stripped from the model line up. MG Dynamo EV Concept debuts at SMMT
Wed, 16 Apr 2014The MG Dynamo EV Concept (pictured) is on display at the SMMT MG may not be what it once was (which you can take either way), but as a marque MG is 90 years old. As part of celebrations for the 90th birthday of MG, there’s an exhibition of MG’s models at the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) offices in London this week, which include a global debut for an electric MG city car. The MG Dynamo Concept is MG’s vision of an electric city car which, say MG, encompasses “the latest in design and engineering technology”.
