    The Volvo S80 is now three years old, and Volvo has decided to spruce it up a bit for the current year. Volvo has played around with the nose and body on the S80, to give a lower, wider perspective. The new nose incorporates details similar to the XC60, declaring Volvo’s intention of a family theme.

    Jaguar Land Rover profits up 34 per cent to £1.5 billion

    Just four years after Tata took over what looked like a basket case in Jaguar Land Rover, profits have hit £1.5 billion. It’s become the norm for Jaguar Land Rover to report ever improving profits and sales, but the news that JLR made profits of £1.5 billion in the year to end of March 2012 is still amazing. Ford sold Jaguar and Land Rover to Tata four years ago as it unwound its faltering luxury car brands, and as recently as 2009 JLR were almost begging for government help to keep going.

    Hyundai puts Michel Nandan in charge of WRC effort

    Hyundai has appointed former Peugeot WRC technical director Michel Nandan to head up their assault on WRC. As Hyundai matures in to a credible mainstream force, improving brand perception is crucial to its long-term goals and 2012 is all about improving Hyundai’s brand experience and perceptions of the brand. A part of that focus is to take Hyundai back in to WRC rallying with a much modified i20, where Hyundai are hoping for a better experience than they had when they went rallying a decade ago – which should be a given considering the big strides Hyundai has made in its cars in the last few years.
