McLaren F1: the inside story by Peter Stevens and Gordon Murray

Fri, 29 Aug 2014

For a kid who grew up in the ’80s and ’90s with those cliché supercar posters on my wall, the chance to chat to Gordon Murray and Peter Stevens for the September 2014 issue of CAR magazine was both terrifying and incredibly exciting. In the name of completeness I’ll mention that Murray was the genius behind the McLaren F1, designer Stevens a key player, but most of you won’t need to be reminded. Hyundai lined up a convoy of six stunt drivers in the new Genesis saloon at their test track in the Mojave Desert, engaged adaptive cruise, lane hold and automatic emergency braking and set it off round the test track.

Lincoln Quicksilver Ghia concept heads to auction

Fri, 17 Jan 2014

Next week at the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee, Fla., bidders will get a chance to take home something truly unique, a Lincoln Quicksilver concept car created by Carrozzeria Ghia in 1983. This radical concept was created at a time when Ghia was a division of the Ford Motor Company. The concept itself debuted in one place where the Lincoln brand was, ahem, somewhat underappreciated: the Geneva Auto Show.
