No, this is not a tie-up between Alistair Darling and VW, it’s just Skoda’s way of offering a headline price decrease of a bit over 13% (less expensive to Skoda than last week for the same headline, to be fair, and there is a new model due in January!). Grab a VAT free Skoda Octavia I’m pretty sure that there will be a raft of these ‘VAT Free’ offers floating around on everything from cars to washing machines, capitalising on the fact the VAT is in the headlines.

BMW has revealed its new i8 petrol-electric range-extender supercar will cost from £99,895 – and dealers are already taking pre-orders for the 155mph, 113mpg coupe. The high-performance i8 will be the second BMW i car to go on sale, following the launch of the i3 electric city car which goes on sale in BMW dealers this weekend. The Subaru Impreza Concept - video below The Subaru Impreza Concept wasn’t something we expected at the Los Angeles Motor Show last week, but it was welcome news nevertheless. The Impreza’s design has become tired and dated and needed an injection of something fresh, which the Impreza Concept certainly seems to offer. Of course, the Impreza at LA is a concept car and gets some of the usual concept fripperies like cameras for mirrors and no discernible door handles, but the basic design stands up well and should be almost all there when it goes in to production.
