‘Charge rage’ on the up for electric car owners

Forget ‘range anxiety’, the latest term to sweep the world of electric cars is ‘charge rage’. The new phenomenon hitting owners of zero-emission vehicles relates to the growing number of electric cars on the roads – because public charging infrastructure is failing to expand at the same rate. By Ben Whitworth First Official Pictures 15 August 2008 10:27 Against the backdrop of this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California, Cadillac has pulled the wraps off two bold new models – its CTS Sport Wagon and the CRX crossover. The two cars mark a decade of Cadillac’s distinctive ‘Art and Science’ design theme – and they’re as edgy and creased as you’d expect. It’s the work of Cadillac’s global design director Clay Dean, and we reckon his team has done a pretty good job of incorporating the company’s distinctively edge look and feel with its neatly extended roofline and the way the V-shaped grille is reflected in the wedgy profile of the tailgate.

Audi e-Tron Spyder at the CES Audi keep on dragging versions of their e-Tron out at any given opportunity, usually focusing on a different take on some form or other of electric and/or hybrid propulsion. Our favourite so far has been the Audi A1 e-Tron, which may seem odd to those of you who know of our penchant for the fast and exotic. But hybrid cars are best suited to urban environments – even more so electric cars – and the Audi A1 e-Tron’s combination of electric motors and a range-extending Wankel engine really floated our urban boat.
