Probably the best value in the horsepower per dollar spent with an aircleaner racing is this "AirFlo" by Professional Products. Installs in 5 minutes and designed for all serious street or race applications using an air cleaner on your 4-barrel carburetor. So simple and yet so smart. Designed with the spring loaded smooth flow air router so it works properly with only 3.3" of carb to air cleaner lid clearance and up to 6.4" of carb to air cleaner lid height. How does the Airflo work? The incoming air on a round air cleaner is drawn in through the outer diameter of the air cleaner by engine vacuum. As this air rushes towards the center of the air cleaner it collides with itself creating turbulence. This turbulence slows down the entry of the incoming air into the carburetor just enough to affect the power output of the engine. The AIRFLO simply provides a smooth transition from the perimeter of the air cleaner down into the carburetor venturis. By eliminating the turbulence, it actually helps get more air into the engine. More air draws in more fuel from the carburetor and more air and fuel means more horsepower. Simply remove your air cleaner top, determine if you need to use any of the supplied spacers to fit your air cleaner, drop the various elements of the AIRFLO down over the center stud, put the air cleaner top back on, and you are done. It's just that easy. (On models with a choke tower and a very low air cleaner, you may have to align the top piece with the carb.) It really does increase power To date two separate dyno tests have been run with the Airflo insert in two different dyno facilities and on two different engines. On one test we used a Demon carburetor and we're getting increases of 7 horsepower. The second test used a Holley carb and we got increases of 10 hp. The second was on a 600 hp racing engine and our 10 hp gain was comparing the Airflo in a conventional street type air cleaner to a tall racing air cleaner without the Airflo. Users report improved throttle response and an increase in fuel economy as well.

MINI JCW Roadster pounding the Nurburgring Now we’ve got the MINI Coupe out in the open, with and without its swirly black and white camouflage, it must be close to MINI doing the same with the Roadster. Which is probably why we have spy photos of the MINI JCW Roadster pounding round the Nurburgring – last shakedowns, we assume. Because we can’t imagine MINI dragging out the reveal of the production model Roadster much past Frankfurt – if it takes that long – which will be a full two years on from when MINI first revealed the 2-seater MINI Roadster – the soft top twin of the MINI Coupe.

Toyota Motor Corp. is packing the redesigned 11th-generation Corolla with new technologies in a bid to give the compact a more upscale feel. Standard or optional on the Japanese version of the Corolla are such features as climate-controlled seats, automatic high-beam headlamp dimmers, safety belts with pre-tensioners and interior lights that turn off automatically.
