Fiat 500L: UK price from £14,990
Mon, 10 Dec 2012Fiat has revealed that their supersized 500 – the Fiat 500L – will cost from £14,990 for the 1.4 litre 500L Pop Star or Easy. Actually based on the Punto underpinnings, rather than the 500′s – the 500L is Fiat’s take on the MINI Countryman (well, both the 500L and the upcoming 500X SUV) and designed to extend the appeal of the 500 – Fiat’s most successful model – to a market that has outgrown the diminutive 500. Starting point for the 500L is aether the ‘Easy’ trim or ‘Pop Star’ trim (more daft trim levels) and come with standard features including a 5″ touchscreen radio, Bluetooth, Cruise, Electric door mirrors and leather on the gear knob and steering wheel.
Zero tolerance to drink-driving urged
Tue, 10 Jun 2014DRIVERS are being urged to pledge not to drink any alcohol before driving this summer as the police launches a new drink-driving campaign. The call comes from road safety charity Brake, which reports that the 2013 summer drink-driving campaign by the police breathalysed 100,892 drivers and 5170 failed the test. This summer’s football World Cup is a cause for concern for the police as drivers may be tempted to have an alcoholic drink while watching a football match before getting into their car.
Parents 'risking kids' lives' on defective tyres
Tue, 26 Aug 2014MORE THAN 30% of parents are ferrying their most precious cargo around on illegal tyres, a new study has found. Road safety charity TyreSafe has reported that one of its members carried out a study at a Shropshire primary school, where almost a third of the cars dropping children off at school were wearing tyres that were either past their wear markers, were incorrectly inflated, had bulges or cuts, or had foreign objects sticking out of them. “The start of the new academic year means that we will be experiencing many more cars on the roads, particularly at peak times of the day,” comments Stuart Jackson, chairman, TyreSafe.
