Dodge revived the iconic Dart nameplate for its new C-segment contender, unveiled at NAIAS 2012. While the Dart represents a new product, filling a gap in the market left by the Neon, it is effecively a rebodied Alfa Romeo Giulietta. The Dart's DRG features drawn-back lamp graphics that are combined with a large grille displaying the classic crosshair insert.

But rather than a ultilitarian flat-bed, the Soulster concept is something at the very other end of the scale, designed to drum up interest in the Soul (on which it's based) before the B-segment baby goes on sale later in 2009. The Soulster concept was penned at Kia’s LA design studio – where the original Soul concept was created – and while there are no current production plans, company insiders have said that the right reaction from American customers could see the Soulster become a reality.

GM awards small-car production to Michigan plant

General Motors will make its new subcompact car in Orion Township, Mich., the automaker said Friday, dashing hopes in Spring Hill, Tenn., and Janesville, Wis., that the small car would keep one of their factories alive. Stamping for the new car will take place in Pontiac, Mich., GM said in a statement. The small car, which GM said it plans to start producing in 2011, will save about 1,200 jobs in Orion and 200 in Pontiac.
