While Brabus wowed crowds at the Frankfurt motor show just a couple months ago with its mental Biturbo iBusiness sedan based on the newest S-class, at the end of the day we weren't sure if that was a car for the rear-seat passenger or the driver. Earlier this month we reported that Fiat were heading to the Geneva Motor Show in March with a new compact MPV – the Fiat Elle-Zero, which they are. But instead of using the code name for the new mini MPV as the production moniker, they’ve decided the new car will join the 500 family as the Fiat 500L.
Keyless ignition trends toward standardization
Tue, 05 Apr 2011A federal plan to require automakers to standardize keyless ignition systems in the wake of Toyota's unintended acceleration problems is likely to mirror industry guidelines issued in January, an automaker group said. Large automakers except Toyota said they already comply with the guidelines crafted by SAE International or plan to do so. These "recommended practices'' seek to counter the variation, driver confusion and safety problems that have ensued since automakers started installing push-button ignition in luxury models.
