Vauxhall and Opel 'not for sale' - CEO Akerson

GM chief executive Dan Akerson has overnight dismissed claims that its Vauxhall/Opel European division is for sale. CAR's European editor Georg Kacher, and media outlets in Germany, reported last month that German chancellor Angela Merkel had weighed in to the debate and encouraged Volkswagen to step in and take GM Europe off GM's hands. Vauxhall and Opel have also been linked to a possible sale to the Chinese.

Autodesk Alias Scan Surfacing webinar takes place on 8 October

Autodesk has announced its latest webinar, which looks at the firm's Alias Scan Surfacing and Quick Surfacing software. The 45-minute webinar will take place on 8 October, and begins at 8am PDT in Los Angeles and 11am EDT in Detroit, which is 16:00 GMT in London and 17:00 CET in Munich. Diesel joins Porsche Panamera lineup

Porsche has put forward some eye-catching fuel-economy figures for the Panamera diesel--although we may never see the car in the United States. Set to go on sale across Europe in August, the four-door is claimed to return a combined city/highway driving fuel economy of 36.2 mpg in standard guise under European testing procedures. When fitted with optional low-rolling-resistance tires, the fuel economy climbs to 37.3 mpg on the European test--a figure that gives the Panamera diesel a theoretical range of 800 miles on its 21-gallon fuel tank.
