Thu, 14 Nov 2013The production version of the Lincoln MKC Compact SUV (pictured) has been revealed When Ford divested itself of its premier marques – Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover – it left it with little wriggle room to compete in anything but the mainstream car market. Ford in Europe is trying to address that by launching ‘Vignale’ badged cars which promise to offer more ‘Premium quality’ than its mainstream models, and Ford in the US is doing the same thing by trying to reinvent the Lincoln badge as the answer to German premium models. GM and Bezalel Academy of Art and Design develop Windows of Opportunity smart glass tech [w/video]
Thu, 26 Jan 2012General Motors' Research and Development has collaborated with Bezalel Academy of Art and Design's Future Lab students to conceptualize new ways in which rear seat passengers – who traditionally feel disconnected from their environment – have a richer experience on the road. The result is the Windows of Opportunity project, a series of applications developed by the Bezalel students and built into full-size prototypes using multi-touch and gesture sensing surfaces developed by ClickEye. The projects were: – Otto an animated character projected over passing scenery that responds to real-time car performance, weather and landscape.
One in six drivers 'top 100mph'
Mon, 10 Mar 2014ONE IN SIX (17%) of drivers admits to driving at more than 100mph on the motorway regularly in the UK, even though the speed limit is 70mph. More than twice that number (38%) own up to driving at above 90mph, while 11% say they speed at 50mph or more in residential and urban areas where there is a 30mph speed limit. Research by Direct Line shows 61% of drivers have also exceeded the 20mph limit.
