Money woes may keep Converj from market
Mon, 19 Jan 2009General Motors' tight finances may hold the automaker back from building a production version of the Cadillac Converj concept car. GM revealed the coupe, which would use the same technology as the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid, last week at the auto show here. GM designed the Converj so the production version--if it ever happens--will look "exactly like this," says Bob Lutz, GM's vice chairman of global product development.
Driving age to be raised to 18?
Thu, 17 Oct 2013A government-commissioned report has recommended probationary driving licences are in future issued from the age of 18, not 17 – and that learner drivers would be required to invest big in getting a licence. The new proposals would still see provisional driving licences issues from 17, allowing learners to get out on the road under supervision. However, learners would have to undertake a 12-month ‘learner stage’, in which they’d have to cover a minimum of 100 hours’ supervised driving.
Late-brakers are 'biggest irritation on the road'
Thu, 26 Sep 2013DRIVERS WHO brake at the last minute and then turn without signalling are the most annoying on the road, according to a new poll. 2,000 people were surveyed by First Bus who then compiled the 50 most annoying motoring bugbears, with late brakers topping the chart. High parking charges also appeared in the top ten, as did dangerous behaviours such as tailgating, being cut up, drivers using mobile phones and motorcyclists weaving through traffic.
