Installation requires holes drilled into the floor for mount plates behind the driver and passenger seats, no cutting of the upholstery is required. The bar uses existing welded in, threaded lugs from the Porsche factory as its rear mounting points. The thoughtful design of the bar hugs the interior "b" pillar area and roof line. NO cutting of upholstery required. Careful attention to design allows ample fore and aft movement for the front seats. Harness bar height follows NHRA guidelines. CONSTRUCTION: Features 1-3/4" DOM mild steel tubing, 0.120" wall thickness, tig welded joints and air craft quality hardware. All bars come bare metal and can be painted, powder coated or leather covered by the installer. Meets PCA & SCCA specs for most driver's education events. INSTALLATION: "Do-it-yourself" friendly. Easy to follow installation instructions with tech support. Estimated time for installation is 2.0 hours. ** Item is very heavy and awkward. GM sued for not recalling nonpolice Chevrolet Impalas to fix spindle rods
Wed, 06 Jul 2011General Motors has been sued by the owner of a Chevrolet Impala who claims the company recalled police versions of the sedan to fix a tire-wear issue but did not recall civilian Impalas for the same problem. According to the suit, filed in Detroit, GM issued a recall for police Impalas in 2008 for faulty spindle rods, which misaligned the rear wheels and led to premature tire wear. GM told dealers to replace the spindle rods, realign the rear wheels and replace the tires.
