997.1 Carrera 3.6L IPD Plenum | Part #97174-3.6 The 3.6 liter Carrera produces very similar power gains as the 3.8 liter equipped S Carreras. Maximum horsepower increases of 24 to 26 take place in the midrange and gains of 10 to 12 up top. The "Y" design of the 3.6 liter IPD Plenum also allows for a more linear power delivery and improved throttle response that enhances your 997 Carrera driving experience even further. Power improvements will be fully realized once the factory DME makes all the necessary “adaptation” requirements which occurs after a series of hard pulls on the dyno or full throttle runs (at your local race track of course). The 997 IPD Plenum is a direct bolt on replacement and installation is relatively straight forward for mechanically inclined DIY customers although IPD strongly recommends all Plenum installations be performed by a trained and qualified Porsche technician. |

Mon, 10 Feb 2014The Mercedes A,B & CLA-Class get more frugal and get new 4MATIC options The new Mercedes A-Class, B-Class and CLA-Class may not have been with us very long, but that’s not stopping Mercedes playing with what’s on offer with more frugal engines being launched and the option of 4MATIC 4WD being extended to the Mercedes A 200 CDI and 220 CDI. With an official fuel consumption of 54mpg and emissions of 125g/km, the latest Mercedes CLA 250 manages to improve emissions and economy figures by 7 per cent using a lean-burn process, without affecting performance. The Mercedes A 200 CDI gets a bigger engine – up from 1.8 to 2.2 litres – and 136hp and 221lb/ft of torque and, with the 7Speed DCT ‘box fitted, manages official consumption of 72mpg and emissions of 102g/km – 7g/km less than the old 1.8 litre A 200 CDI.

That must have worked to a degree – certainly as far as the Twitter aspect goes – as Mercedes is having another outing with another hashtag – #YouDrive – and a new marketing campaign for the A Class where viewers ’control’ the advert they’re seeing.
