Frequently Asked Questions

1.    Can I order my part painted from you? No, we do not offer a painting service. We recommend that you have your installer pre-fit the part to your car prior to painting.

2.    What do you mean by part requires professional installation? Unless you are a skilled bodyman with fiberglass experience, you are not qualified to install this part. Fiberglass parts require more skill than an OEM part to install. We recommend that you find a body shop that is experienced with fiberglass parts.

3.    Does the part come ready to paint? No, although our part comes pre-primed from the factory  your body shop will have to prepare the part for finish paint.

4.    So can I have this part installed at my local Porsche Dealer? No, this is not the type of work your local dealership is used to doing. You need an experience fiberglass installer/body shop.

5.    Can you recommend an installer and do the parts come with instructions? Yes we do provide instructions. If you reside in South Florida, California, New York, or Puerto Rico, we can refer you to a  body shop that has worked with our products.

6.    Is this product made with flexible resin like a Duraflex product? No we do not use flexible resins, this is nothing more than a sales gimmick. These flexible resins sag with time causing the part to distort and crack. Duraflex products are mass produced in China and are not even remotely similar in terms of quality to our 100% hand made parts.

7.    What is the difference between FRP and Fiberglass? There is no difference. This is nothing more than another sales gimmick. “FRP” stands for “Fiber Reinforced Plastic”, which is a standard industry term for Fiberglass.

8.    How strong are these parts? Nothing is indestructible – However some of the benefits to fiberglass parts "FRP" when manufactured correctly are that they have excellent UV and chemical resistance, hold their shape over their lifetime, are very durable and strong having one of the highest strength to weight ratios, and are pound for pound stronger than steel, have low weight, perform better in extreme temperature conditions.  The biggest plus to fiberglass composite parts is that they are infinitely repairable.  So, if damaged can be easily repaired. Still today is why so may automobile manufactures, including Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini still use fiberglass in some of there parts

9.    Why Fiberglass over Polyurethane parts? A polyurethane part which is made for one main reason – To create a disposable part that is not repairable thus creating a steady income stream for the manufacturer. Let me explain - There are some aftermarket companies claiming to make polyurethane bumpers for Porsches.  Making a true high quality polyurethane part such as produced by Porsche or any other real automobile manufacturers for the very small Porsche aftermarket simply isn't feasible based on the extreme costs associated with the tooling and manufacturing equipment required for such a process.  A true OEM automotive industry bumper mold for polyurethane  parts are very elaborate and very expensive costing hundreds of thousands of dollars for a single part.  Without having any guarantees in the aftermarket that they will ever sell more than a small amount of newly designed bumpers, no company would ever be willing enough to spend that much money on tooling. While there are a selected few manufacturers that make a  polyurethane part, many have created a "back yard" variety of molds, ironically made out of fiberglass, and use low grade polyurethane materials just to bring something to the market that can be marketed as "Polyurethane" Or “ OEM Fit”.  Prior to purchasing, most people would assume that the quality would be equal to the factory part since it is referred to as "polyurethane" and wouldn't know the difference before they actually saw it and compare the themselves.  The fact is that most aftermarket “polyurethane” parts are made from a rubbery type of polyurethane and are very thick due to the lack of precision in the molds, they are heavy and far too flexible to be used as a bumper for a performance car capable of high speeds.

Buick Regal GS at Detroit

Thu, 07 Jan 2010

GM are showing a 'Concept' of the Buick Regal GS at the Detroit Motor Show It always seemed likely that having taken the very good Vauxhall Insignia and turned it in to a Buick for the 21st century – The Buick Regal – that GM would take the obvious step of producing a performance version based on the Insignia VRX. So it’s not a huge surprise that GM have revealed the Buick Regal GS as a Concept (concept? Believe that and you’ll believe anything) which they are showing at the Detroit Motor Show this month.

Ownership costs of traditional versus alternative fuel vehicles

Mon, 04 Feb 2013

As gas prices remain high, and an increasing number of automakers roll out plug-in hybrid cars and full-electric vehicles, it's becoming easier to be tantalized with the idea of driving right past the gas station and simply "plugging in." The debate ensues when it comes to cost: These alternative fuel vehicles mean a larger outlay of cash at the onset, but the long-term fuel savings could make the purchase worthwhile. To help straighten out this numbers game, we use the Department of Energy's Vehicle Cost Calculator to compare alternative fuel vehicles with their gasoline-only counterparts. For each scenario, we assumed that our hypothetical owner was able to get the full $7,500 federal tax credit and a $2,500 state tax credit, such as is available in California.

Public supports 20mph urban speed limits

Wed, 02 Apr 2014

78% of people think 20mph speed limits should be introduced as the norm in residential areas, around schools and in town centres, according to road safety charity Brake. It comes as the charity introduces its GO 20 campaign, calling on politicians to support changing the default urban speed limit to 20mph. Backlash at increase in 20mph areas predicted On Bing: see pictures of 20mph zones 20mph zones are already widespread in some areas – with Brake claiming these areas have seen significant reductions in crashes.
