Add the Toyota C-HR crossover concept to your list of new cars to see at the Paris motor show next week. When Toyota launched the original RAV4 in 1994, it also introduced a new market segment: the crossover. Over the past 20 years, rather like the crossover segment, the RAV4 has grown much larger in size while morphing into a more traditional small SUV.

Report backs Scottish pay-as-you-drive

SCRAPPING FUEL DUTY and car tax in Scotland and replacing them with a pay-as-you-drive system has been suggested by an independent think tank. The scheme would help reduce emissions, cut congestion and increase fairness, Reform Scotland said. The organisation has produced a report on the idea, calling for the Scottish Government to launch a feasibility study on a national and local scheme in which central government would "price" motorways and trunk roads and local authorities would "price" local roads.

Royal College of Art interim exhibition - 'Automotivation'

Second year Vehicle Design students at London's Royal College of Art displayed their work last November in an interim exhibition entitled 'Automotivation'. The long-established RCA Vehicle Design course has produced some of the world's most respected and successful automotive designers. In the exhibition, a range of design projects considered the needs of the world's changing landscape for private and public mobility.
