Concept Car of the Week: Lamborghini Marzal (1967)

Fri, 14 Dec 2012

In 1967, Lamborghini's lineup consisted of just two cars – the Miura and the 400 GT 2+2 – but this wasn't enough for Ferrucio Lamborghini, who fancied a true four-seater GT to add to his stable. After the successful collaboration on the Miura, he naturally returned to carrozeria Bertone which was commissioned to design the car. The project was left in the hands of Marcello Gandini, who turned Ferrucio's vision into a revolutionary design concept.

Jaguar ramps up interest for the XF Sportbrake

Sat, 07 Jan 2012

Jaguar XF Sportbrake - now you can register your interest The Jaguar XF Sportbrake (XF Estate) has been teased a couple of times so far, but now Jaguar are taking registrations of interest for the new XF. It’s not huge news that the Jaguar XF Sportbrake is being dangled again, but it’s an indication that the launch of the XF Estate is getting closer. When Jaguar first officially confirmed the XF Sportbrake back in November, they did so by creating a new Twitter account – @sportbrake  - from which they’ve now acquired around 1,000 followers and, apart from responding to followers’ Tweets, have been regaling us with enigmatic Tweets like ‘The House in the Trees reflects nature in its balanced curves’ and ‘… few people achieve it… have you?’ Jaguar followed that up with a ‘Santa Special’ with Father Christmas loading presents in the back of the XF Sportbrake – still camouflaged and still with ‘@sportbrake’ plastered on the side.

How South America designed the Ford Ka

Thu, 31 Jul 2014

The Ka Concept was shown at the São Paulo auto show in Brazil in November 2013, and was revealed in production form last week. It marks the first time the Ka has reflected the broader brand homogeneity of the 'One Ford' design strategy, and continues the Ka's shift in direction from the distinctive original. The new car is the work of Ford's South American design studio in Camaçari, Brazil - its second 'One Ford' car, following the EcoSport. But while the crossover enters a new segment, the 17-year history of the Ka nameplate in Brazil gives an insight into how the demands of the local market have taken precedence over design iconicity.
