Nissan has revealed that the new 2014 Qashqai is just one step away from becoming a self-driving car. Packed with technology, the Qashqai can already do an awful lot with little driver input, including park, read road signs and avoid collisions. Hertz to rent EVs in San Francisco

Car-rental company Hertz has added electric vehicles to its fleet in San Francisco, available to members of the Hertz On Demand program. Renters can choose from the Nissan Leaf, the Smart EV or the Mitsubishi "i". Rentals include an in-car connection to the 24-hour member care center, where drivers can get information on charging stations, alternate drop-off points or roadside assistance.

Michelin Challenge Design 2009 preview

Michelin is continuing to profile the work of some of the leading contenders for its annual Michelin Challenge Design competition, which asks the design community to come up with proposals for "America's Next Iconic Vehicle". All 11 of the scale models and 24 two-dimensional drawings in the running will be exhibited at the 2009 NAIAS in January. Earlier this month, we featured three of these scale models following their selection by a jury of top automotive designers.
