Johnson Controls develops 3D Multilayer Instrument Cluster concept
Thu, 09 Feb 2012Johnson Controls has developed a new instrument cluster concept that displays its information through a 3D interface. The Multilayer Instrument Cluster concept, initially intended for use in full- and mid-size luxury cars, is designed to improve the safety of the driver and the overall efficiency of the vehicle. Jeff DeBest, vice president and general manager, global electronics for Johnson Controls Automotive Experience said, "The dynamic movement and interaction of the multiple layers of information offers customers the next-generation of 3D driver assistance.

And with prices announced from £11,255 it looks like the Adam may just have a fighting chance of taking a piece of the market dominated by MINI and the Fiat 500. Of course, GM are hoping that no one who goes in to a Vauxhall showroom will go out with a basic car – a vast array of style and customisation options are the order of the day with the Adam – but the headline starting point is a decent one.
General Motors to kill Daewoo name in South Korea, switch to Chevrolet
Thu, 20 Jan 2011General Motors Co., trying to position Chevrolet as a key global brand, is killing the long-used GM Daewoo name in South Korea and putting the Chevy bowtie on its cars there. The name GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co., in use since GM took over the struggling South Korean automaker in 2002, will be phased out by the end of March. The new name will be GM Korea Co., the company said in a statement.
