This REBUILT engine came with a car we recently sold. We were told by its previous owner (a retired attorney named Glenn) that it was built to be a replacement for a 1974 Corvette about 15 years ago and never put in a vehicle due to the fact that he ended up going with a high performance 502 crate engine. The owner of the machining company that rebuilt the engine was one of Glenn’s clients years ago and is no longer alive. The machine shop was apparently one of the biggest and most respected GM engine re-builders in the country at the time and had machined blocks on hand in order to speed up the rebuild process). We believe the stamp pad was decked when it was rebuilt due to the fact that we can’t find numbers on it. As a result, we have no way to know what model vehicle it came out of.

We do know that Glenn pulled a 454 out of his 1974 Corvette, the machining company owner offered to rebuild it for him and he accepted. The engine was picked up and one that had been rebuilt was dropped off a week or so later. We believe the work was performed in exchange for legal services rendered and Glenn doesn’t recall getting any paperwork that detailed how the engine was built. This engine doesn’t have a Corvette casting number. We’re guessing that it’s been bored thirty over and puts out 300+ horsepower/400+ foot pounds of torque. IT HAS ZERO MILES ON IT SINCE IT WAS REBUILT. The block is period correct for the mid 1970s, is cast as high performance and it has a Corvette intake and Corvette exhaust manifolds. We pulled a valve cover and found that it's in better than new condition internally (the insides of the heads are coated in Rustoleum - see picture number 2). It also did very well in a leak down test we performed on it. It doesn’t come with any parts that aren’t pictured. We'd like to find a new home for it ASAP. As a result, the first reasonable offer will be accepted. Call Justin at 469-300-9669 with questions.

Two thirds back young driver restrictions

Wed, 02 Jul 2014

TWO THIRDS of the public would like to see restrictions placed on recently qualified young drivers, according to an RAC Foundation survey. Even two in five young drivers would back a form of graduated licensing, the poll found. Those surveyed were asked whether restrictions, possibly lasting 12 months after a driving test has been passed, should be placed on drivers aged 24 or under.

2010 Audi A8 to launch in Miami

Thu, 19 Nov 2009

The Audi Pavilion at Design Miami USA where Audi will reveal the 2010 A8 The long, drawn-out saga of the next generation Audi A8 is finally being resolved with the announcement that Audi are going to launch the A8 on the eve of the Design Miami USA event – 30th November. Which does seem a bit of an odd place for a mainstream, high-end car maker to launch its new flagship. Are Audi saying that the new A8 is all about design, rather than performance or luxury or, quite frankly, anything else?

Chrysler races to upgrade its lineup

Mon, 01 Mar 2010

In a bid to improve its lineup before a fleet of new Fiat-based vehicles arrives in 2012, Chrysler Group is rushing new features and equipment into 15 reworked vehicles. The equipment, such as a Fiat dual-clutch, six-speed transmission and a new Chrysler V6, will boost fuel economy, improve driving dynamics and spiff up drab interiors, all areas in which Chrysler has fared poorly in consumer surveys. All the vehicles will be on sale by the first quarter of next year.
