Up for sale is a professionally rebuilt pair of date matched Small Block Chevy 2.02 double hump cylinder heads. Casting number is 3890462. The heads are dated L56 & L66 (December 5, 1966 & December 6, 1966). These heads have 64cc combustion chambers with new 2.02 stainless intake and new 1.60 stainless exhaust valves. The 462 is one of the best closed chamber cylinder heads of the 1960’s. Heads have been hot tanked, shot blasted, and magnafluxed. These heads have been completely rebuilt with 8 new hard exhaust seats for unleaded fuel, 16 new thick wall bronze valve guides, a 3 angle valve job, 8 new one piece stainless intake valves, 8 new one piece stainless exhaust valves, & 16 new performance chrome silicon valve springs good for up to .550” valve lift (closed pressure is 110# at 1.800”, open pressure is 325# at 1.200”). The heads have also been resurfaced .006” for a perfect head gasket seal. These heads are also machined for screw in studs with guide plates which are included in the sale. One head has previously had a small hairline crack repaired on a rocker stud boss (see pictures). This is cosmetic only, the head pressure tested fine with no issues. Because of this previous repair I’m selling this pair of heads at a discounted price. Heads are then thoroughly washed and fully assembled with 16 new premium Teflon valve stem seals & 32 new heavy-duty keepers. All valves and valve seats have been checked for a perfect compression seal. There is no porting or polishing on any intake port, exhaust port, or any combustion chamber. All threaded bolt holes are good. The heads come as pictured and are ready to install. The heads pictured are the actual heads you are buying and will receive. The double hump heads were factory installed on all High Performance Fuel Injected and carbureted Chevrolet vehicles including Corvette, Camaro RS SS & Z-28, Chevelle Malibu, Chevy II Nova, Bel Air, & Impala. These heads will also interchange with other camel hump heads with casting numbers 461, 461X, 462, 291, 292, 186, 041, 370, & 492. These heads will fit 265, 283, 302, 305, 307, 327, 350, & 400 small block Chevy engines from 1955 to 1986 with no modifications (steam holes will need to be drilled for a 400) and 1987-1999 with correct gen 1 intake manifold (except 1992 & up LT-1 reverse flow). I tried to list everything about these heads but please ask any/all questions before buying. Payment must be received within 3 days or item will be re-listed unless other arraignments have been made in advance. Shipping, handling, & insurance is fixed at $90.00 for both heads shipped to the continental US only. Alaska, Hawaii, and everywhere else will be higher. All international bidders please multiply the shipping calculator by 2 for two boxes. If you are outside the continental US & purchase the heads please do not pay until an adjusted invoice is sent to you with the added shipping costs. Thanks for looking.

Portugal commits to the Electric Car

Sun, 23 Nov 2008

Renault Electric Car [ad#ad-1] Portugal has today committed to building 1,300 recharging stations around the country by 2011, in a deal agreed with Renault to supply Electric Cars (EV). This is a further indication of the global rush to go green, with ‘carbon’ taxes and ‘carbon’ incentives sprouting from the desks of politicians throughout the West. But how logical is this phenomenon, and is it a fools errand, based on dubious facts’?

BMW X3 xDrive20d SE (2011) Review & Road Test

Mon, 14 Mar 2011

BMW X3 Review & Road Test If you’re going to pontificate on a subject – in this case, pen a BMW X3 Review – it’s probably best to declare any prejudices and preconceptions up-front. So before starting to deliberate on BMW’s new X3 – in this case the entry-level BMW X3 xDrive20d SE – I need to declare that firstly, unlike many who review cars for a living, I ‘get’ the whole softroader thing. And secondly, I thought the original BMW X3 was truly awful.
