There's something about German automakers and model proliferation—it seems that if there is a niche to be filled, no matter how vanishingly small, a vehicle will be devised to fill it. If no niche is extant, they'll simply invent one, which is how we wound up with the unprompted X6. Audi's new A3 lineup, which debuted at the Los Angeles auto show and will begin its 18 month-long North American rollout spring 2014, seems incredibly rational by comparison.

Acura NSX details emerge

This morning we know a little bit more about the return of the NSX, which will wear the Acura badge in this incarnation, including where it will be made: Marysville, Ohio. Specifically, in a building adjacent to Honda's Marysville auto plant. The 184,000-square-foot building was once Honda's North American logistics facility, before that it was a seat factory and at one time Honda made transmissions inside.

The Sonic is Chevrolet's latest attempt to induce a small car in the American market and take on the Ford Fiesta in one fell swoop. Replacing the generally unaccepted Aveo, the Sonic draws from a youthful and aggressive design in a bid to appeal to the younger market. Available as a four-door sedan (seen here) as well as a five-door hatchback, the Sonic displays a 'progressive exterior design', according to the American brand's press materials.
