One Lap of the Web: The Internet celebrates the Mustang
Tue, 15 Apr 2014Fifty years ago, Muhammad Ali became the heavyweight champion of the world, "Jeopardy!" debuted, Lockheed went 2,000 mph with the YF-12 and a mop-topped band went on a television show to promote what would be shameless nostalgia for the next 50 years, even while it was happening. Oh, and Ford introduced the Mustang, an event that would be Lee Iacocca's Second Greatest Shining Moment, behind introducing Chrysler's TC by Maserati as the prettiest Italian to arrive stateside since his mother. McLaren 12C Can-Am goes in to production
Sat, 17 Nov 2012The track only McLaren 12C – the 12C Can-Am – was revealed as a one-off at Pebble Beach but is now going in to limited production. The 12C Can-Am is aimed at the lucrative track day market in the States, and without the constraints of any production series McLaren has been able to play as they wish. That means the 12C Can-Am – developed by the McLaren GT Team which developed the 12C GT3 Race car – gets a new aerodynamic package that improves downforce by 30 per cent, including a carbon fibre splitter with winglets, a carbon fibre diffuser and huge rear spoiler.
