Volkswagen Jetta Alltrack crossover possible
Tue, 05 Jun 2012Volkswagen is not finished with plans to extend the Jetta portfolio. The suits inside the Wolfsburg, Germany, headquarters are mulling a plan for a crossover version of the future Jetta SportWagen along the lines of the recently introduced Alltrack concept. “We think there is definite sales potential in North America and other world markets for a new lifestyle-targeted Jetta model,” a senior Volkswagen source divulged.
BMW 6 Series Coupe
Wed, 23 Mar 2011Following on from the recently launched cabriolet variant, BMW has revealed the all-new, technologically advanced 2+2 seat 6 Series coupe. Now in its third generation, the 6 Series features a new interpretation of the traditional BMW coupe proportions: low and wide with a long hood and a long wheelbase. Measuring in at 4894mm long and 1894mm wide, the new car is 75mm longer and 39mm wider than its predecessor, but sits 5mm lower to the ground (at 1369mm tall).
BMW/Exa-sponsored project at ACCD
Wed, 13 Aug 2008Art Center's BMW/Exa 7th term sponsored project, which we first reported on back in mid-February, recently had its final presentation at the conclusion of the Spring 2008 term. You'll recall the project tasked the students with redesigning a future X5 Sports Activity Vehicle with the express mandate improving its aerodynamic efficiency by at least 30 percent. To achieve this lofty goal, the co-sponsor on the project, Exa Corporation was going to provide both their engineering software PowerFLOW and their technical know-how to virtually test the students' Alias StudioTools design models and provide them with real world aerodynamic feedback.
