The Volvo Concept Estate (pictured) looks set to be the new V90 The final in a trio of new concepts from Volvo showcasing their new platform and new direction debuted at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this month as the Volvo Concept Estate. And it seems it might be heading for production. Not, as we expected, as a replacement for the Volvo V60, but as a larger car set to replace the V70 and to be dubbed the V90, according to Auto Bild.

SEMA adds four to hall of fame

The Specialty Equipment Market Association is adding four names to its hall of fame: Gray Baskerville, Art Chrisman, Chris Economaki and John Towle. The SEMA Hall of Fame recognizes those who have especially helped foster the growth of the special-equipment automotive industry. -- Baskerville was senior editor of Hot Rod magazine for 30 years, though his writing is what really secured his ticket to the hall.

Electric cars to be powered by AA-style batteries

A NEW COMPANY is claiming its new design of battery could see future electric cars powered by batteries no bigger than the current AA size. LipraLoof Techologies Ltd, a new start-up, has teamed up with City Car Club to trial the new technology in its fleet of vehicles. The new batteries use a complex mix of metal hydrates to create a quad, or 4A battery, which produces far more power than a standard battery.
