The Paris Motor Show has opened its doors with the media preview days. Production car debuts include the Nissan Qashqai, Audi R8, Volvo C30, new Mini, and Citroen C4 Picasso. Concepts included the Alfa 8C, Renault Nepta, Hyundai Arnejs, Citroen C-Metisse, Skoda Joyster, VW Iroc, Lancia Delta HPE and Peugeot 908RC.

Porsche GT3 to launch at Geneva

The next in line for the mid-life facelift (Gen 2) of the Porsche 911 is the GT3, following on from last year’s revisions to the Carrera and Targa. The GT3 has had only minor modifications to its looks, instead the detail, as you would hope, has gone on under the skin. The engine has gone up in size from the old 3.6 litres to 3.8, yielding an increase in bhp – up to 435bhp.

The 850 was a very popular car for Fiat in the ‘60s, especially in its spider version with its cute design and compact proportions. When the time came to replace it, Fiat went back to Bertone, where chief designer Marcello Gandini was charged with designing its replacement. Not happy to simply recreate the 850, he began with a whole new layout by placing the engine directly in front of the rear axle for a mid-engined layout.
