Brand:Dill-Cleve Surface Finish:Original Placement on Vehicle:Left, Right, Front, Rear Country/Region of Manufacture:United States

These were discovered on the forgotten warehouse shelf of an ancient auto parts store that closed it's doors after 75 years in business...  They are Dill-Cleve valve stem caps with sliding covers.  I believe these are from the 1930's.  They have aging, and I am selling them as used parts.

You will get all 4 tire valve stem caps pictured.

It's a little hard to explain, but the plated brass cover slides down over the rubber valve stem after these are screwed on.  Pretty neat.  There are 2 pictures with one installed on a rubber valve stem (not included).  One is with the cap screwed on, and the other it with the outer cap pushed down over the rubber stem.  Hopefully that illustrates how they work.

There are rubber sealing gaskets inside the threaded cap, like on many quality valve stem caps.  Those rubber inserts have degraded after all these years of storage and are crumbling or missing.  I think the inside rubbers can be removed and these will still install just fine.  I'm leaving that task to the new owner.

There is also some degradation of the plating, in some areas to the point that you can see the brass underneath .  These have not been cleaned yet, so they will look a little better with some careful attention.  Please understand that these are very old.

Each cap has "Dill-Cleve" stamped on the side of the part, as well as patent number 1637332.  It may be hard to see in the pictures, but it's a really neat little detail.
